Class Info

This class combines the rhythmic beats and expressive movements of hip hop with the smooth elegance and technical precision of jazz to create an exciting dance experience. All experience levels are welcome. For Adult dancers and teens ages 15+. Meet Kearia (KeKe) Duncan: Kearia (KeKe) Duncan is a Seattle native with an energetic spirit who has danced for over 7 years. She began her teaching journey 4 years ago, working at N The Kutt Dance Studio, teaching hip hop of all levels, and for D & G Dance Company. She is a Central Washington University graduate with her Bachelors in Family and Child Life, as well as Deaf and Sign Language Studies. During her time, she led her College dance team through 2 great years. She has co-created for teen musicals based on Cinderella and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Kearia is trained mainly in hip hop, while having some experience with Brazilian and African dance, Jazz, Pom, and beginner Ballet. She has choreographed for multiple local artists while traveling with her talents, performing in Portland, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Chicago, Virginia, and more. Performing at World of Dance, Bumbershoot, WaNaWari, The Carnival, and being a part of the historic Black Nativity, are a few highlights of her dance journey, as well as opening for artists such as Jacquees, Reni Ruchi, and others. Keke believes that movement is important. Meet Vania C. Bynum: Vania C. Bynum, founder of VC Bynum Arts & Education, is a dancer, teacher, and choreographer whose calling is to enhance the life of others through her artistic gifts. A graduate of Cornish College of the Arts, Vania has performed at the Paramount & Moore Theaters, Intiman Theatre, Benaroya Hall, Meydenbauer, Langston Hughes, and local churches, leading the Liturgical Dance Ministry at New Beginnings Christian Fellowship for 11 years. In addition to self-producing performances, she has choreographed works for the Seattle Peace Chorus, Dr. Maxine Mimms Presents, Sound of the Northwest, Northwest Tap Connection, Broadway Bound Children’s Theater, and more. Recently, Vania danced the role of Clara in Spectrum Dance Theater’s Harlem Nutcracker (2022) and choreographed for both the return of Seattle’s beloved Black Nativity (2023) and The Life of Thea Bowman “I will live until I Die” (2024). Vania is thankful and thrilled to uplift the history of our culture working on The Lion Tells His Tale (2024) with the Intiman Theater this season. Visit her at www.weinspirehumanity.org
